Flat roof leaking, split or blistered? Flat roofers repairing and replacing flat roofs on extensions, garages, dormers and commercial buildings across Stevenage. Free quote.
Flat roofs show you when they are tired. Blisters and cracks in the felt, a split along a joint, a damp patch on the ceiling below or a soft spot underfoot. These are the flat roof calls we get most often.
Repair or replace. A split or a failed joint on an otherwise sound roof can be repaired. When the covering has failed across the roof, or the deck underneath has gone soft, replacing it is the better spend. We look at it and tell you which.
Any size. From a garage or porch to a large extension or a commercial roof.
Extensions. A flat roof over a kitchen or living room has a ceiling and a room directly underneath, so the details matter as much as the covering: where the roof meets the house wall, around roof lanterns and skylights, and at the edges where the water runs off.
Garages and outbuildings. Often the oldest flat roofs on a property, and often felt. A garage roof that has started to leak can usually be stripped and re-covered in a day or two.
Dormers. High up and awkward to reach, so they tend to be left until they leak. Re-covered in torch-on felt or a single-ply membrane, a dormer gets a long-lasting finish that suits the roof around it.
Business premises. Flat roofs on offices, workshops, shops and industrial units, repaired or replaced with the system that suits the size and use of the roof. Larger roofs are often best in a single-ply membrane, which goes down quickly and keeps disruption to the business low. More on commercial roofing.
Leaks first. A leak over stock, machines or a shop floor is repaired straight away, and the full replacement planned for when it suits the business.
Torch-on felt: modern multi-layer felt, hard-wearing and good value. It lasts far longer than the old felt roofs it replaces, and suits most domestic flat roofs - extensions, garages, dormers and outbuildings.
Single-ply membranes: tough, flexible sheets laid in a single layer with few joints. Quick to lay, and the system of choice on larger and commercial roofs.
GRP and EPDM rubber: we fit these as well where a customer wants them, but for most roofs we recommend torch-on felt or single-ply, and we will explain why when we see the roof.
Green roofs: a planted layer over a waterproof roof. Ask us if you are thinking about one.
The deck underneath: where the boards have gone soft, they are replaced before the new covering goes on, so the new roof has something solid to sit on.
It depends on the roof. Torch-on felt suits most domestic flat roofs and is good value. Single-ply comes into its own on larger roofs, where it goes down quickly with few joints. We recommend one after seeing the roof and explain why.
Most repairs can be done in most weather, but felt and single-ply membranes need dry conditions to lay properly, so a full replacement may be timed for a dry spell. If the roof is leaking now, we make it watertight first.
Most domestic flat roofs, such as an extension or a garage, take one to three days, weather permitting. Larger and commercial roofs take longer, and we give you a timescale with the quote.
